Pacific village and Arts Council will be here today to set up their location and also set venues where they will showcase the pacific at Albert Park in Suva.

Hardie also said that overall everything is on track as the weather too is helping the work which is hot in the day and cool in the night.

This is really a Pacific climate and hope this festival will come alive .

Festival Secretary committee Aqela Cakobau said that the final touches are being put on the newly renovated Albert Park pavilion, which is expected to accommodate more than 400 guests.

Food stalls are also in place and at least one has begun spewing out sweet barbecue aromas to the nearby Government Buildings, while carnival ride operators started setting up yesterday.

“We’re grateful to the sponsors, Pacific Builders Solution, for their help in putting up tents and structures to house the event. They’ve also completed the newly renovated pavilion which has been extended to accommodate the guests, “said Cakobau.

“We’re having the final rehearsal for the lighting and sound equipment today and we’re aiming for the entire site to be ready by tomorrow afternoon.”

Besides the excitement of the rides and food stalls, Cakobau highlighted that the cultural entertainment and sporting competition is also something to look forward to.

“There is always something for everyone; we have the cultural activities and entertainment happening during the day while the sport event will be hosted in the evening to give time to business houses to be part of the activities.

WEEKLY POLL
How do you feel about the rise in fuel prices and increase in taxi and bus fares?
Aritema Navonicagi, 52 “Well in my opinion it is quite early to increase bus and taxi fares because Fiji is not settled politically.”
Nemaniu Qalo, 47 “The bulk of Fiji’s population live in the low income category and we low income earners have very little control over this increase. It will eventually affect everything else, especially food which is the source of livelihood.”
Tara Wati, 50 “I spend approximately $4.50 from my home to the place I sell food every day. I receive very little profit after I deduct all my expenses.”
