Be prepared Rakiraki
6-Feb-2010 03:22 PM

The Ministry of Education wishes to advise all Head Teachers for primary schools in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba to report to their respective District Education offices by Monday, February 8 for collection of textbooks.

Straight after that, schools in Nadroga and Navosa will be advised on their date for textbook collection.

Up till today, the Ministry had completed the distribution of textbooks for the Eastern and Northern Division.

It hopes to complete the Western Division by early next week, after which, the Central Division will be distributed with texts.

The Education Ministry is grateful to the hardworking officers of the various government departments, which are also part of this generous initiative.

The Ministry fully understands the magnitude of the work that is involved in this exercise and for their sacrifice and commitment, the Ministry is greatly indebted.

Free textbooks to schools, is one of the many initiatives of the Ministry to ensure every child who enrols into Class 1 must reach Form 6.

Supplying students with the resources that they need would not only boost the teaching and learning process but also the improvement of quality education in schools.

How do you feel about the rise in fuel prices and increase in taxi and bus fares?
Aritema Navonicagi, 52 “Well in my opinion it is quite early to increase bus and taxi fares because Fiji is not settled politically.”
Nemaniu Qalo, 47 “The bulk of Fiji’s population live in the low income category and we low income earners have very little control over this increase. It will eventually affect everything else, especially food which is the source of livelihood.”
Tara Wati, 50 “I spend approximately $4.50 from my home to the place I sell food every day. I receive very little profit after I deduct all my expenses.”
