First yellow card
6-Feb-2010 03:36 PM

World Sevens Champion Wales were booked in the books of the referee after they received the first yellow card of the Wellington Sevens yesterday.

Rover Jevow Groves received the first yellow card one minute and nine seconds left in the second half after committing a high tackle no their opponent the host New Zealand. It was a game of show by the Kiwis after they stunned the Wales with their brilliant style of rugby and played far better then the World Champions.

New Zealand came early in the first half after Sherwin Stomers scored two consecutive tries to make his team lead 12-0.

The power of All Blacks was getting stronger as their third try came by Ben Souness after a brilliant play by the play marker Tomasi Cama. Wales remained unanswered as the host captain DJ Fobes and Nafi Tuitavake scored a try each to drag the margin to 29-0.It was too late when Wales replied in the late stage of the second half after their play maker Lloyd Williams scored a consolation try.

The full time score was 29-5 as the Kiwis convincingly took the match.

WEEKLY POLL
How do you feel about the rise in fuel prices and increase in taxi and bus fares?
Aritema Navonicagi, 52 “Well in my opinion it is quite early to increase bus and taxi fares because Fiji is not settled politically.”
Nemaniu Qalo, 47 “The bulk of Fiji’s population live in the low income category and we low income earners have very little control over this increase. It will eventually affect everything else, especially food which is the source of livelihood.”
Tara Wati, 50 “I spend approximately $4.50 from my home to the place I sell food every day. I receive very little profit after I deduct all my expenses.”
